A Blackey man accused of killing his former stepson during an altercation over the weekend is being held without bail in the Letcher County Jail. He’s 91 and still active

Billy Polly, a retired coal miner from Mayking, celebrated his 91st birthday on November 1. Born only three days after the stock market crash of 1929 that caused The Great Depression, Mr. Polly is also a cancer survivor who still enjoys gardening and cutting his own grass. His family says he also enjoys fishing and “drinking his Pepsi.”

4 sentenced after pleading guilty

Four people have entered guilty pleas in Letcher Circuit Court. They are: • Kendra Beth Napier, 42, of Lost Creek, who pled guilty to second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and use/ possession of drug paraphernalia.
